Paperback / softback, published 30 June 2011

134 pages
21.6 x 14.1 x 0.9 cm, 0.2 kg

First published in 1923, this volume provides the entire text of the Hávamál in the original Old Norse, together with a facing-page English translation. At the time of publication, the poem had only been made available within editions of the Poetic Edda or still larger collections. This was therefore a significant book, which considerably increased the accessibility of the Hávamál. A long introduction and generous notes are also provided, together with extracts from three other poems (including the greater part of the Sigrdrífumál) which serve to complement the main text. This is a consummately edited volume that will be of value to anyone with an interest in Old Norse literature.
